Caroline Wozniacki may be one of the fittest tennis players, but even she is terribly nervous and anxious as she prepares to take part in the New York City Marathon next month (November 2). <img title="Former World No 1 tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki. Wozniacki said she is having nightmares about the grueling 42km race that follows only a a week after the season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore.
"I dreamed one time that before I even got to the start line I was dead," Wozniacki told CNN's Open Court in an interview recently.
Wheelchair-bound "Or I dreamed that someone had to get me through the finish line in a wheelchair. So I don't know if I am that confident but I'm starting to get there. I definitely have a finish goal in mind but I want to keep it to myself," she added.
Wozniacki will be running the marathon for a charity, however a series of recent injuries and of course the aftermath of a high-profile split with top golfer Rory McIlroy may be on the former World No 1 player's mind.
However, she did make her first Grand Slam final in five years at the US Open and then did well n the WTA Tour's Asian segment that earned her a a place at the super-elite eight-woman year-ender for the first time in nearly half a decade (since 2011).
Tough time off court "All that running has&nbsp;definitely helped. In the middle of the year I had a tough time outside the court and in my personal life. Just going for a run was nice to clear my mind and think about something else. Then you feel great about yourself as well. You get fit."
Adding to he Wozniacki's marathon worries is her father and fitness coach's opinions. "They said, 'you are crazy'," said Wozniacki.
