Parupalli Kashyap too disappointed, losing 21-11, 21-9 to World No 2 Long Chen in the men&rsquo;s singles tie. In the men&rsquo;s doubles, Prannav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar went down 23-25, 18-21. PV Sindhu was the only Indian to win a game as she lost to current World Champion Yihan Wang 21-19, 16-21, 14-21 in 66 minutes in their first ever encounter. The Hyderabadi showed great skill against to win the first game and lead in the second (8-5) when Yihan used all her experience to come back into the match and take the game and the decider. In the final match of the day, Ponnappa and Pradnya Gadre, World No 50, lost their women&rsquo;s doubles tie 18-21, 11-21 to World No 1 Yu Yang and Xiaoli Wang. India will need to win their second and last group tie against the Indonesians today to think of any chance of advancing to the next level.

Indian shuttlers were thrashed 0-5 by their Chinese counterparts on the first day of the Sudirman Cup here at the Putra Stadium yesterday.
