A small but interesting seven-race card is slated for the opening day of the Mumbai racing season, the feature event being the Rotary Club of Bombay Trophy for class I horses. City racegoers who missed live action for more than six months are expected to flock the Mahalaxmi paddock to witness this race, not because it is the prime event of the card, but because among its five participants is Ruffina, the most promising filly in this part of the country who has won all her four starts so far, and whose next big target will be the first Classic of the current campaign--the Indian 1000 Guienas (Gr 1) to be run in December.

The three-year-old Ruffina, carrying Dr Cyrus Poonawalla silks, will be piloted by English jockey David Allan. Ruffina is expected to win the seven-furlong race without causing any anxious moments to her followers, and accordingly, shapes as an outstanding bet. But if bookmakers choose not to risk money by offering bettable odds on her, it is best to watch this race without any betting interest.

First race at 2 pm.
