Incident on National Highway-24 in east Delhi

A traffic police constable received critical injuries when he was allegedly hit by an Ambassador bearing a blue beacon in the Commonwealth Games lane on NH-24 late on Thursday night.

A police officer said that the victim was identified as Lal Chand. He was on duty when he met with the accident.

"The Ambassador hit him from behind. He fell on the road and suffered injuries on his shoulder. The car driver did not stop and fled from the scene with the vehicle. Lal Chand was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he is undergoing treatment," said a senior police official.

The officer said that Lal could not note down the number of the car as he was hit from behind. The matter is being investigated.
