Glasgow: Indian discus thrower Seema Punia won the silver medal while her compatriot and defending champion Krishna Poonia finished a disappointing fifth in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at the Hampden Park Stadium here Friday.
The gold went to 2009 World Champion Dani Samuels of Australia and England's Jade Lally took the bronze.
Seema Punia won the silver with a season best throw of 61.61 metres. She has a&nbsp;personal best of 64.64 metres,&nbsp;

In the qualifying round, Seema failed to get on the board with her first two attempts, but threw 58.44 in her third attempt to finish behind Australia's Dani Samuels (64.53).
Krishna too missed with her first two throws but in her third attempt registered a distance of 51.36 metres to scrape through to the final.
Sometime earlier, India were assured of a gold or silver medal after Laishram Devi beat Maria Machongua (MOZ) to reach Women's Lightweight Final.
