World No.1 Novak Djokovic, who was not allowed to participate in the Australian Open since he has not taken a vaccine against Covid-19, would not have been able to play in the Tata Open too, had he wished to. 

Serbian Djokovic was recently deported to Belgrade from Melbourne after he lost a court battle to participate in the year’s first Grand Slam despite a medical exemption. Prashant Sutar, Tournament Director of the Tata Open told mid-day that the world’s best tennis player would have to follow the law of the land in India as well.
