After hockey, football and cricket, Matunga school now eyes success in basketball

After winning titles in inter-school football, hockey and having recently made it to the the semi-finals of Harris Shield cricket tournament, Don Bosco, Matunga now look set to reclaim their basketball title.

The defending champions comfortably overcame PG Garodia, Ghatkopar 47-13 to reach the semi-finals of the MSSA inter-school tournament at St Joseph's, Wadala yesterday.

Don Bosco 'A' captain, Dean D'Souza said the school's unique sports division helps build young athletes. "Our school has a separate sports section and students are free to choose any sport they like. The school also stresses on the need for physical fitness right from the lower classes and this helps build healthy youngsters," said Dean.

The skipper added that more than winning trophies, the school's emphasis is on encouraging participation.

"Every student is urged to take part in some sporting activity or the other," said Dean.
