The Adhirajsingh-trained Dyf, given a patient and power-packed ride by Akshay Kumar, accelerated when it mattered most, and swept them all—including favourite King's Ransom who put in a pedestrian performance—to bag the Idar Gold Trophy (Gr 3), the feature event of last Saturday's seven-race card which was postponed to Tuesday.

King's Ransom's trainer, Pesi Shroff, however, had a good day with two winners: Democracy (C Umesh up) and Chopin (Neeeraj Rawal up).

Democracy had lodged an official protest on the opening day of the season which had resulted in winner, The General, losing the race in the stewards' room. On Tuesday, Democracy proved her credentials by vanquishing the same The General in the Amjad Khan Trophy. With Chopin, Shroff bagged the Chandrayaan-3 Landing On The Moon Trophy instituted in honour of India's successful Chandrayaan-3 mission.

The card opened with the Sana Plate, a contest for class IV runners, in which the top two market fancies--Jerusalem (P Trevor up) and Alpha Domino (Neeraj Rawal up) fought a fierce battle in the last 100m of the mile-and-half-trip. The photo-finish camera ruled the Imtiaz Sait-trained Alpha Domino as winner.

Aloysia, saddled by SK Sunderji, went on a start-to-finish mission in the September Handicap, and in the hands of apprentice rider Haridas Gore, grimly held on to win by the breadth of a hair hanging from nostril, much to the dismay of the backers of favourite Winter Agenda (YS Srinath up) who created a ruckus after the race, resulting in 10-15 minutes delay for the subsequent races.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal was the sole rider to complete a brace with Alpha Domino and Chopin. And Ms Nazzak Chinoy was the only other trainer, besides Shroff, to lead in two winners on the card. She saddled the winner of the Moosa M Hoosein Trophy, Inishmore (CS Jodha up), who decisively beat his younger and more fancied rivals. Ms Chinoy also won the Spearhead Plate with Chieftain to whom jockey Vishal Bunde gave a copybook ride.
