Indian Wells: United States, March 06, 2014 (AFP) - China's Peng Shuai booked her second-round berth at the Indian Wells ATP Masters and WTA tournament on Wednesday with a three-set win over former champion Vera Zvonareva.

Zvonareva, a former world number two who was sidelined for all of 2013 with illness and a right shoulder injury, had been seeking just her second match win since the 2012 Olympics, but was unable to make her wild card go far as she fell 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.
