Singapore: Spain's Garbine Muguruza defeated Czech Lucie Safarova 6-3, 7-6(4) in a league match of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals here on Monday.

The 22-year-old Muguruza finished her WTA Final's debut in one hour and 56 minutes. This was the first match in the tournament's White Group which includes Muguruza, Safarova, Czech Petra Kvitova and German Angelique Kerber, Efe reported.
