The running of the grade 2, C N Wadia Gold Cup, which once used to be one of the glitziest races, is now relegated as a feature event of a drab, glamour-less seven-race Sunday card. The Wadia cup at least as 10 horses in the fray, but some other trophy races have fields of only four, five or six runners. The club's racing department will need to pull up its socks if, as reported, they are planning to extend the season by two more weeks, else they may have to play to empty stands in the hot, late-April weather.
