Los Angeles: Two-time Indian Wells winner Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from next week&rsquo;s BNP Paribas Open through injury.

The world number seven, who won the tournament in 2006 and 2013, has not played since her Australian Open quarter-final exit in January due to an arm injury. She told wtatennis.com:
"I am extremely disappointed that I am unable to compete in this year's BNP Paribas Open. I have been focused on healing my left forearm injury and tried to get my body to be 100 per cent ready to play this event."
