The Edgar DeSylva Trophy, a six-furlong sprint in which nine quality sprinters will face the starter, is likely to culminate in a thrilling finish at the wire.
And although speedy older horses like Pepito and Joshua will be hoping to cause a flutter, the main tussle may involve the two three-year-old fillies--Maleficent and Another Conquest--saddled by Pesi Shroff and Malesh Narredu respectively. Both are in excellent form, the former winning her last race against class III rivals; the latter fighting out with a far better horse in confiance over a trip that was a furlong longer than she relishes. With Another Conquest returning to her pet trip of six furlongs, it looks like a toss up between the two.
The paddock condition and fitness will obviously hold the key, but going by the raw Dynamic Ratings, Maleficent seems to have a very thin edge over Another Conquest.
