"This is not the end of it. I still have a few more races to go before giving up on hopes of participating in the London Olympics. I am very pleased with my performance here and it has boosted my confidence further," Elam told MiD DAY.

The Uttarakhand armyman was eager to see his two-year-old daughter. "At the moment, I am just thinking of going home to see my daughter. I haven't seen her for the last one year due to rigorous training in Pune," added the 29-year-old. Elam switched from 3000m steeplechase to distance running only 10 months ago.

"I struggled a lot in steeplechase due to frequent injuries. That is why I took up the marathon," said Elam, who was part of last year's Asian and CW Games.
