MSSA inter-school annual athletics meet: Drishti, Jimmit emerge champs in U-16 javelin throw

Javelin throwers Jimmit Mehta of Children’s Academy (Malad) and Drishti Poojari of Sanjeevani World School (Dahisar) clinched gold medals in the Dreams Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school annual athletics meet held at Priyadarshani Park, Nepean Sea Road, on Friday.

The boys U-16 event was a thriller as Himesh Paswan of SFIT Convent High School (Kandivli), in his last throw, matched Jimmit’s previous best effort of 43.12m, only for the latter to clinch top honours with a final throw of 44.01m. Vedansh Tripathi of Vasudev C Wadhwa Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) took bronze (39.29m).


In the girls U-16 event, Drishti bagged gold (22.50m), while Bhakti Gaykar  of Thane Police School finished second (21.53m), and Hiral Sidhpura  of Children’s Academy (Malad) took bronze (21.33m).
