Italian top-seed Jannik Sinner believes he produced a near-flawless performance to dispatch Czech World No. 34 Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in third round match

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner delivered a brutal statement of intent at the French Open, dispatching Czechia’s Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in just 94 minutes to storm into the fourth round at Stade Roland-Garros on Saturday. The top seed remained flawless in Paris, having yet to drop a set, and extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 17 matches.
Under grey skies on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, Sinner was clinical from the start, showcasing his signature blend of baseline control, early ball-striking, and ruthless returning.
Sheer masterclass
The Italian dropped just nine points on serve all match and punished Lehecka’s inconsistent deliveries with unanswerable returns.
The numbers underlined Sinner’s dominance: 30 winners to just nine unforced errors, and a continuation of his staggering run of 64 consecutive wins against players ranked outside the top 20. It was a masterclass in discipline, power, and consistency.
“I was playing really, really well, especially during [the first] two-and-a-half sets. I don’t think there is much I could improve. I’m very happy with my performance,” said Sinner.
Awaiting him in the Round-of-16 is 17th seed Andrey Rublev.
Meanwhile, German World No. 3 Alexander Zverev downed Italy’s Franco Cobolli 6-2, 7-6 (7/4), 6-1. He will play Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in the fourth round.
Later in the day, Britain’s Jack Draper also strolled to a straight-set victory over Brazil’s Joao Fonseca. Fifth seeded Draper clinched a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 win to set up a fourth-round clash with Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.
Alcaraz digs deep
Late on Friday, reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz stumbled his way into the last-16 with a 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Bosnian World No. 69 Damir Dzumhur. Alcaraz broke twice in each of the first two sets and seemed to be cruising, but a dogged Dzumhur refused to roll over and pinched the third set, before breaking the Spaniard at the start of the fourth set.
However, Alcaraz managed to dig deep and found the strength to overcome his opponent. He will face USA’s 13th seed Ben Shelton for a place in the quarter-finals.
