Chandigarh: The country's sole individual Olympics gold medallist, shooter Abhinav Bindra, yesterday accepted the Balbir Singh Senior Chair Professorship in the Department of Physical Education of Panjab University here.
A university spokesman said Bindra has given his acceptance to the professorship with effect from January 13 this year.
The Panjab University Syndicate, at its meeting held on November 27 last year, had approved Bindra's name for India's first Olympic torch bearer Balbir Singh Senior Chair Professorship for a period of three years. Bindra won the country's first individual gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
