Divgijkar honoured for contribution to aquatics

He is known as aquatics’ answer to Anandji Dossa, the late cricket statistician

The city’s aquatics fraternity felicitated Pradeep Divgikar at the YMCA Water Polo League, Agripada, recently. It was an ideal 70th birthday gift for Divgikar, or Ponji to friends, who received a plaque with a list of his achievements and contribution to aquatics. Over a 30-year period, Divgikar held positions of Secretary, Treasurer and President in the Greater Mumbai Amateur Aquatic Association. He helped conduct many aquatic meets and has been a state selector of water polo teams besides representing India in the Indo-Sri Lanka meet in 1979 and leading Maharashtra (1975 to 1982). He was part of the W Rly team that won the Inter-Railways from 1977 to 1979. He is known as aquatics’ answer to Anandji Dossa, the late cricket statistician.
