PV Sindhu crashes out of Japan Open and top 10 ranking

Rising Indian shuttler P V Sindhu on Thursday lost her second round tie in the Japan Open to exit the tournament and also lost two places to crash out of the top 10 list in the latest BWF world ranking.

The World No.12 shuttler had a poor outing against Japanese qualifier Akane Yamaguchi as she was beaten in straight games in 32 minutes at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The World No.145 beat Sindhu 21-6, 21-17 to move into the women's singles quarterfinals.

Her compatriots H.S. Prannoy, K. Srikanth and Ajay Jayaram though advanced to the quarterfinals of the $200,000 Japan Open Super Series on Thursday.
