Though the scoreline
suggests a closer battle, the Warriors, in fact, won their first three match-ups of the night and straightaway went into an unassailable 3-0 lead. In the opening men’s singles tie yesterday, Awadhe’s K Srikanth beat Pune’s Sourabh Varma in straight games 21-18, 21-16 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Thereafter, Awadhe’s PV Sindhu beat Pune’s Juliane Schenk 21-20, 21-20 to make it 2-0. In the men’s doubles then Warriors’ Marcis Kido and Mathias Boe comfortably got the better of Pune’s Arun Vishnu and Sanave Thomas 21-15, 21-16 to make it 3-0.
