WWE Royal Rumble's 30th edition at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas saw records being set as well as surprised victories. WWE superstar John Cena faced AJ Styles for the WWE championship while Roman Reigns took on Kevin Owens for the Universal title.
WWE Royal Rumble kickoff began with a 6-woman tag team match. Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, and Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and Natalya aafter Naomi pulled off the win by pinning Alexa.
Sheamus and Cesaro vs Gallows and Anderson for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Sheamus hit the referee accidentally and took him out. Cesaro looked in control for a win but Anderson interrupted him. Gallows and Anderson then hit Sheamus with the magic killer to become the new tag team champions.
Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax Sasha began the match well, but after major dominance, Nia Jax pinned Sasha by hitting the Samoan drop.

Bayley began the match in full swing as she hit Randy Savage's elbow drop on 'The Queen'. Charlotte tried to deliver the moonsault but it was met with Bayley's knees. Charlotte began to bleed during the course of the match. She then hit the Natural Selection on Bayley to retain her title and be 16-0 at PPVs.
Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship in a no-disqualification match Kevin Owens' friend Chris Jericho was locked in a shark cage and hung up above during the match, but not before he attacked Roman Reigns. After brawling in the crowd, Roman Reigns was hit by a frogsplash onto a table outside. Owens then hit Reigns with brass knuckles but Reigns kicked out. Owens then hit the Stone Cold Stunner on Roman Reigns but he still kicked out. Reigns then threw him onto various chairs outside the ring and followed it up with a ppowerbomb on the annoncer's table. Braun Strowoman then interrupted the match by hitting the chokeslam on Reigns on the announcer's table and a poweslam onto the table in the ring, Owens then pinned Reigns to retain the title.
Rich Swann vs. Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Both WWE superstars maintained the pace in the match with a lot of stylish moves. Swann hit his finisher kick on Neville but the latter got his foot onto the rope. After a superplex, Neville then used his finisher to make Rich Swann tap out and become the new Cruiserweight champion.

The most hyped match at the Royal Rumble 2017 as there were quite a few near falls between the two stars with AJ Styles and John Cena maintaining the pace. Both men kicked out of their opponent's respective finishers. John Cena reversed Styles' calf crusher with the STF. Styles hit the Styles clash on Cena but he kicked out. Cena then hit an AA from the top rope but AJ Styles kicked out. AJ Styles hit another clash but could not pin Cena. John Cena then hit another AA and followed it up with one more to pin AJ Styles and become a record-tying 16 time WWE champion. John Cena is now tied with Ric Flair.

Big Cass and Chris Jericho began as the first two in the WWE Royal Rumble match. Braun Strowman who entered at no 7 had the most eliminations in the Rumble match with 7. Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Sheamus, Rusev, Baron Corbin were all eliminated. Randy Orton entered at no 23 while Brock Lesnar, Goldberg and Undertaker entered at 26, 28 and 29 respectively, Goldberg qas quick in eliminating Brock Lesnar. Goldberg hit the spear on Undertaker. After eliminating Corbin and Rusev, Undertaker soon eliminated Goldberg. ROman Reigns entered at no 30 and eliminated The Undertaker. Roman Reigns then eliminated Chris Jericho. Randy Orton was quick to eliminate Roman Reigns to become the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 winner.
