Renowned sports psychologist Dr Rudi Webster was delighted to read that India hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh had benefited from his book on mental training, Think Like a Champion.&nbsp;

The 26-year-old custodian orchestrated one of India&rsquo;s most famous hockey wins recently when he successfully thwarted arch-rivals Pakistan in the shootout of the recent Incheon Asian Games final. Sreejesh effected a couple of terrific saves as India beat Pakistan 4-2 ti win the Asiad hockey gold after a gap of 16 years. Sreejesh later revealed that he always carries a copy of Webster&rsquo;s Think Like a Champion wherever he travels and that it was true motivator for him in times of mental pressure, like in the penalty shootout against Pakistan.
On learning that his words had inspired the India goalkeeper to achieve success on the international stage, Webster said it was one of the greatest compliments he&rsquo;d ever received.
&ldquo;To hear someone whom I haven&rsquo;t met say such nice things about my book, is the greatest compliment I can receive,&rdquo; Dr Webster told mid-day recently.

The former manager of the West Indies cricket team also understood the pressure Sreejesh would have been under.
&ldquo;The compliment is particularly special since the player helped India beat Pakistan in a hockey final and win the gold medal.
&ldquo;This means that the simple messages in my book about enhancing performance in sport are reaching athletes in many disciplines.
&ldquo;I wholeheartedly endorse the sentiments of Bill Russell, the great American basketball player, who once said that he always rated how well he played by how much better he made his teammates play,&rdquo; said Dr Webster.
