The stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), who met yesterday evening at the Mahalaxmi racecourse to decide the fate of champion trainer Pesi Shroff in the Bullseye case, deferred the matter to October 28. No official reason was given for postponement.

The decision to postpone the hearing came as a surprise because the same stewards, based on an exchange of SMSs between Jt Commissioner of police (Crime Branch) and Champaklal Zaveri (chairman of stewards), had made it explicitly clear in the minutes of their last meeting that they had been "advised" by the Mumbai police to go ahead and conclude their inquiry.
