New Delhi: The sports ministry on Friday sanctioned financial assistance to women's World No.1 shuttler Saina Nehwal, discus thrower Vikas Gowda and the Indian wrestling team from the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).

The ministry will pay Rs.1 lakh per month as remuneration to Saina's personal coach U. Vimal Kumar and Rs.10,81,000 for the purchase of gym equipment for a 15-month period from June, 2015, to August, 2016, a release said.
