Sakshi Priya, Larkin Fernandes win MSSA Olympic Day essay-writing competition

In the drawing competition, Shreya Nath also from Shri Balaji International School and Cristiano Corriea of St Stanislaus High School bagged top honours.

The Mumbai Schools Sports’ Association (MSSA) received an overwhelming response for its online events on the occasion of Olympic Day, on Wednesday, June 23. 


With sports activities across the city halted for over a year now due to the Coronavirus-caused lockdown, the school sports body organised online essay writing and drawing competitions for students to celebrate Olympic Day. Online videos were also invited from students to promote their favourite sporting activity. Children were also asked to send post good luck messages to the Tokyo Olympics-bound Indian contingent.


Sakshi Priya of Shri Balaji International School and Larkin Fernandes of St John the Evangelist High School were the winners in the girls and boys categories respectively in the essay competition that saw over 500 children participating. 


In the drawing competition, Shreya Nath also from Shri Balaji International School and Cristiano Corriea of St Stanislaus High School bagged top honours.

Shri Balaji International School was declared the overall winners while St Stanislaus finished runners-up. Ryan International School and St John the Evangelist High School jointly shared third place.

Overall top honours: 
1st Prize - Shri Balaji International School 
2nd Prize - St Stanislaus High School 
3rd Prize - Ryan International and St John the Evangelist

Larkin Fernandes (St. John the Evangelist), 2. Brendon Monteiro (St. John the Evangelist), 3. Nivaan Shanbhag (Shri Balaji International).

Sports videos: (Girls) 1. Keziah Cabral (Cambridge International), 2. Kiara Mittal (Reliance Foundation School), 3. Hetal Doshi (St. Teresa High School). (Boys): 1. Siddhantt Joshi (Don Bosco High School, Borivali), 2. Dylan Pinto (St. Stanislaus High School), 3. Suhan Pawle (Don Bosco, Matunga) and Glen Nazareth (Don Bosco, Borivali).

Drawing competition: (Girls) 1. Shreya Nath (Shri Balaji International), 2. Drishya Shah (Shree Balaji International), 3. Suhani Sawal (St. John the Evangelist). (Boys) 1. Cristiano Corriea (St. Stanislaus High School), 2. Rohit Kuppilli (Ryan International), 3. Yash Sonu Parab (Udayachal School).
