Sania-Mattek-Sands, Bopanna-Ram advance to Rd 2 in Miami

Rohan Bopanna and his American partner Rajeev Ram saved seven breakpoints in the second set to overcome Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley 7-6 (8), 6-4 in the first round of the Miami ATP Masters yesterday
Bopanna and Ram, broken just once in the entire match, will now face Marin Cilic and Lukas Dlouhy.
Meanwhile in the women’s event, seventh seeds Sania Mirza and her partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands also progressed to the second round after beating Eva Birnerova and Varvara Lepchenko 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 21 minutes. Sania and Mattek-Sands will now fight it out with Jarmila Gajdosova and Sabine Katharina Lisicki.u00a0
