Wasim Shaikh and Arijeet Bose found the going tough before they managed to win their respective men's singles pre-quarter-final round matches of the 2nd Maharashtra Senior State Selection Badminton Tournament 2016 held at the Goregaon Sports Club yesterday.
In a closely fought encounter, Shaikh dropped the first game to Vinayak Dandavate, but pocketed the next two games to seal a 21-23, 27-25, 21-17 win and book his place in the last eight. Bose lost the opening game, but managed to find his rhythm to overcome Akendra Darji by a 13-21, 21-12, 21-14 scoreline.
