After the breather, Lajong went into defensive. Air India strikers got a couple of chances in the second half but failed to find the target. The Mumbai side were never in control of the game.
The home team increased the lead in the 75th minute. An unmarked James Gbillee received a through pass at the centre line, made a solo run and lobbed the ball over the Air India custodian Arnab Das Sharma to seal the fate of the game in his team's favour.
Lajong's Niwan O Gatphoh was adjudged Man of the Match.
