The first evening card of the season is slated at the Mahalaxmi racetrack for today. The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) has rather ambitiously chalked a fulsome programme of 21 race days (out of a total 39) for racing under the floodlights, and have christened it as the Moondust Evening Festival, with the marketing tagline being 'racing, gourmet, gigs & fashion', in a hope to attract the younger crowd to the races.

Only seven races will be run on the card, with the Maharaja Sir Pratapsingh Gaekwad Trophy, a seven-furlong event for class II horses, slated as the prime event. Only three horses will face the starter in this race; however, a close contest cannot be ruled out between between the two three-year-olds in the fray--Temerity, trained by Pesi Shroff and to be ridden by Neeraj Rawal, and Sky Mine, the Imtiaz Sait ward to be ridden by Trevor Patel.
