Army Sports Institute&rsquo;s (Pune) Sanvaroo Yadav beat the scorching heat to win the 3rd Vasai-Virar Mayor&rsquo;s men&rsquo;s full marathon, while Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Kavita Raut had a close finish to emerge the women&rsquo;s half marathon winner yesterday. <img alt="Sanvaroo Yadav, Bining Lyngkhoi and Budha Ram" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/Sanvaroo-Yadav.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 602px;" /> Winners of yesterday&rsquo;s Vasai-Virar Mayor&rsquo;s full marathon Sanvaroo Yadav (centre), Bining Lyngkhoi (left) and Budha Ram (right). Pics/Nimesh Dave Yadav, was a surprise winner, given he began running the marathon only in 2010 after he failed to achieve any success in short distances. He clocked 2:27:27 seconds to finish ahead of his ASI teammate Bining Lyngkhoi (2:31:17s). Another ASI runner, Budha Ram (2:33:33s) finished third. Yadav walked away with a prize cheque of Rs 2 lakh, while runner-up Lynkhoi and Ram were awarded Rs 1,10,000 and 60,000 respectively. <img alt="Kavita Raut" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/Kavita-Raut.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 597px;" /> Winner of the women&rsquo;s half marathon Kavita Raut G Laksmanan emerged the men&rsquo;s half-marathon winner clocking 1:07:06, while Soji Mathew finished second (1:07:47s) and Karan Singh (1:08:00s) was third clocking.u00a0In the women&rsquo;s half-marathon, state runners Raut, Lalita Babar and Monika Athare, finished first, second and third respectively. Raut, who is running the season&rsquo;s first and also her first marathon after her marriage, clocked 1:07:06. Both Babar and Athare finished with identical timings of 1:22:07. The elite athletes however felt the weather was too harsh and hoped for an an earlier start next year. &ldquo;Initially there was no problem, but as we crossed the half-way mark, there was a sudden rise in the temperature. Due to this, I took more time to finish the remainder of distance,&rdquo; said men&rsquo;s full marathon winner Yadav. Raut agreed. &ldquo;It was really hot by the time we finished. We could have achieved better timings had the start been earlier,&rdquo; she said. u00a0
