Everyone's got that one friend who listens to music literally no one else has heard of. A friend of mine recently outdid himself by finding a musician with only 14 monthly listeners on Spotify. Talk about niche! JJ Llombart is an independent, self-taught singer-songwriter, musician based out of Valencia, Spain. He writes, composes, and records music spanning rock, blues, and alternative genres.

And my friend discovered him in the most unlikely of places — the McDonald’s at Vile Parle. “I was just eating there one day and I heard this amazing song. I Shazamed it and turns out it’s some random guy in Spain who makes fire music,” my friend tells me. I’ve been listening to Llombart’s Pure love every morning while I commute. When I’m feeling a bit experimental, I tune into Steppenwolf. His discography is worth checking out, if for no other reason than to become his 15th monthly listener.
