Celebrated Indian fashion designer Amit Aggarwal, whose creations often reflect themes of science, philosophy and innovation, continued his legacy as he presented his latest couture collection âArcanum' on the third day of Hyundai India Couture Week (ICW) 2025, which is being held in New Delhi.
At ICW 2024, Aggarwal's collection âAntevorta' explored the concept of time through philosophy, science, religion, mythology, and math. The latest collection built on this exploration, but viewed time as an inward journey.
Blending futuristic design, Indian craftmanship and sustainability, the collection reimagined fashion as a form of mystical storytelling where models appeared as if they were futuristic beings.
Sharing the inspiration behind the collection, Aggarwal told PTI, "The inspiration like I said was an inward journey looking at time as a concept which I looked at as an outward journey in the last season. I feel that the DNA is actually the one that records time for us internally. It's a measure to trace our journeys where we came from and what we would become in the future."
The collection imagined DNA as a living code that connects all forms of life across time. The showcase was divided into five chapters - âOrigin', âBloom', âPulse', âMutation', and âMemory'.
The outfits featured sculpted, cocoon-like shapes that opened up like living forms, made using handwoven nylons, recycled polymers, organic cotton, and traditional ikat. Shades ranged from emerald greens, deep purples, and midnight blacks to shimmering silver and bronze tones, evoking a sense of mystery.
"Our couture line transcends conventional fashion boundaries, delving into the very DNA of what it means to be human. We imagined DNA as a living code that weaves a narrative that stretches far beyond the fabric of fashion," the designer said in a statement.
Akshay Kumar walks for Falguni Shane Peacock
On the same day, Falguni Shane Peacock also presented their couture collection, which took inspiration from the world of kings and queens.
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar turned showstopper for the designer duo, walking down the ramp in an ivory achkan-style sherwani.
The sherwani jacket was adorned with intricate silk thread embroidery and featured refined gold button detailing, sharp tailoring, and padded shoulders. A pair of black sunglasses added a contemporary flair to the royal look.
