The Mumbai Metro Pink Line 6 is finally rolling over the rails! The Pink Line 6 from Swami Samarth Nagar (Andheri) to Vikhroli (EEH) will finally cross over the Western Railway, work for which will begin this Sunday. While much of the civil work of the line is complete, the crucial stretches over Western and Central Railway have been pending. The much-awaited launching of steel girders is happening on Sunday.
The Mumbai Metro Pink Line 6 is 15.31 Km in length, running from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (EEH) passing through Jogeshwari, WEH, and Powai. This line is fully elevated and it connects Western Express & Eastern Express Highways.
"Work will continue for nearly 10 hours from 10.15 pm on April 25 to 8.15 am on April 26. This will be a significant step in completion of line since other civil work is now complete. Blocks will be undertaken between Jogeshwari and Ram Mandir stations on 6th line and at Dahisar for launching of girders. Some suburban services will remain cancelled during the block period. The detailed list of cancelled suburban services will be available at all stations on the suburban section," a WR spokesperson said.
MMRDA officials said the Pink Line 6 is a crucial line with interchanges with four metro lines. It has interchanges with Bangur Nagar station of Yellow Line-2A, JVLR station of Red Line-7, Aarey Depot station of Aqua Line-3 and Gandhi Nagar of Green Line-4 at different locations. The line has 13 stations & most of the alignment is passing on the median of Jogeshwari-Vikhroli link road. At a point in Andheri near Mahakali Nagar, out of 4.7km length, about 2.5km line has been combined with the Pink line and constructed on the same single pier at road median to provide an addition transport facility in collaboration with the BMC.
