A couple from Shirur Kasar taluka was killed after a tempo allegedly lost control and rammed into their motorcycle on a national highway in Maharashtra’s Beed district while they were returning from a family wedding

A couple was killed after a tempo rammed into their motorcycle in Georai taluka of Maharashtra's Beed district, police said on Saturday.

The accident took place near Kolgaon on a national highway around 7 pm on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Baburao Ram Bale (62) and his wife Mangal (58), residents of Nimgaon Mayamba in Shirur Kasar taluka of the district.

The couple had gone to Georai to attend a family wedding and were returning home on their motorcycle when the accident occurred.

The tempo lost control and crashed into their bike, due to which the victims were thrown on the highway and died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time. The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination.

A case is being registered against the tempo driver, and further investigation is underway.
