Anjali Anand, who has wowed the audience with her incredible acting skills since entering the entertainment industry, shares that she considers makeup an art form. To her, beauty is a byproduct of how you're feeling, and on days that you’re not feeling your best, it might take just about an hour to turn it around by dabbling in your makeup pouch. In an exclusive interaction with mid-day, Anjali spills the beans about her earliest memories of makeup, busting beauty myths, and more.
How Anjali fell in love with makeup courtesy of YouTube
Speaking at the Amazon Beautyverse event in Mumbai, Anjali, who loves all things hair and makeup, states she’d been using herself as a canvas very early on. The actor recalls, “I was really into makeup when I was like 16, I remember, and there was this girl called Marlena on YouTube, who used to have a channel and she used to do these makeup tutorials. And I used to try to copy her. And I was not that great. And I have gone out of my house looking very questionable many, many times. Early on, I don't know why those people even dated me and took me out like that (laughs).”
Beauty myths Anjali wants to bust
The actor believes that she wants people to stop overanalysing themselves as well as overusing products. Anjali asserts, “We don't need that much skincare. See what suits you and just go with that. I'm sure that changes a lot over time, which it will because even you do, right? So if your skin is feeling a certain way, a certain brand today, it might not feel like that tomorrow.”
Anjali’s go-to products for an everyday routine include a milky toner, moisturiser, and sunscreen if she feels like it. However, if there’s one icon whose makeup bag she’d want to raid, her answer is Rekha. “I need to know what red lipstick she wears. I'll ask her next time,” she avers.
Sharing her admiration for B-town’s favourite makeup artists such as Puneet B Saini and Mickey Contractor, Anjali concludes, “I wish I could do that every day, but I can't.”
