Comedian Zakir Khan is one of the most well-known names in Indian stand-up comedy. He has performed his specials across the world and at several prestigious venues globally. Recently, Zakir recalled his trip to Korea where he met the popular boy band BTS — but failed to recognise them.

Zakir Khan recalls meeting BTS

During an interview with The Lallantop, Zakir Khan shared details of his visit to Korea. He revealed that he had met the world-famous K-pop group BTS during the trip. However, he did not recognise them and even asked who they were. “I happened to go to Korea once, and there is a very famous band there by the name of BTS. I knew there was a band called BTS and I also knew that they were famous. By chance, I went there for an event to interview a very big celebrity, and the band was also there to meet the same person,” he recalled.

He added, “Because I was late, I was in the last batch with those members of the band. So I asked one of them, ‘Who are you and where are you from?’ and he told me they were from BTS. I thought the Korean organising team had called in a behind-the-scenes crew. I was totally unaware that they were famous people. Later, when I told people that I was in the same room with them for 35 minutes, they fainted.”

About BTS

The Korean boy band made their debut in 2013. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, and the seven-member group is widely popular across the globe. Their fans are known as the ARMY, and they have a massive following worldwide. Their music has topped charts and they have collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry. Their music often addresses themes such as mental health, youth struggles, and self-love. They are known for their involvement in co-writing and co-producing their material.

The Grammy-nominated group consists of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. All the members recently reunited after completing their mandatory military service as required by South Korean law.
