Kapil Sharma gets protection
Following the second firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada and threats from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the Mumbai Police has heightened the security of the comedian. The series of incidents that have unfolded over the past month has raised serious concerns about his safety. This has led to swift action by local authorities in Mumbai.
Kapil Sharma gets police protection
Following the threats from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang, the Crime Branch quickly intervened and questioned Kapil Sharma to understand if he had ever received any threats or extortion calls from the gang. The comedian told them that he had not encountered anything of the sort.
According to sources, Kapil Sharma has been provided with proper security in view of the threats he is facing. The Police officials are now reportedly on alert and are assessing the threat to his life. Additionally, the Crime Branch has also initiated an investigation to understand if individuals of this gang have ever conducted reconnaissance around Kapil Sharma’s house or the shooting set.
Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned the daylight attack on Kapil's cafe and urged Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene immediately. The AICWA also penned a note on social media, calling the second attack a “calculated assault on the Indian film industry, its freedom, and its dignity".
Kapil Sharma threatened by Lawrence Bishnoi
Kap’s Cafe, located in Canada’s Surrey, was attacked once again on August 7, marking the second shooting in less than a month. The cafe was previously attacked on July 9, which raised serious concerns about the safety of the establishment. The latest attack has been claimed by gangster Goldy Dhillon, who has openly claimed his ties with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In a social media post, Dhillon warned: "Jai Shree Ram. Sat Shree Akaal, Ram Ram to all brothers. The firing that happened today at Kapil Sharma's Kaps Cafe in Surrey has been claimed by Goldy Dhillon, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We called him [possibly the target], but he did not answer the call, so we had to take action. If he still does not respond, then we will take the next action in Mumbai soon."
Additionally, another member of the gang, Harry Boxer, said, “If anyone works with Salman, whether a small-time actor or a small-time director, we will not spare anyone. We will kill them. We will go to any extent necessary to kill them." Authorities suspect that both incidents were carried out by the Laddi gang, which has links to the banned Khalistani terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
