Bajpayee on sister-fashion designer Poonam Dubey’s upcoming showcase at the Lakme Fashion Week
There is a reason why Manoj Bajpayee looks dapper in his attires—fashion designer-sister Poonam Dubey. Sustaining and reinventing yourself in the fashion and Bollywood industry for 20 years is no small feat. Dubey made the red-and-white gamcha a style statement in 2015 and is all set to showcase her new collection at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week in October.
While Bajpaye cannot attend his sister’s show, he hopes to be present in spirit. The actor talks about his sister’s experiments with fabrics and the “impossible journey” she took from a small village to becoming the go-to designer for Taapsee Pannu, Shraddha Das, Sheena Bajaj, Breshna Khan, Carol Gracias, among others. “Pursuing her career was next to impossible, but I thought if I don’t help her, then who will? After I got her to Delhi, she took a course in fashion design. We each had our own financial crises. I know everything she went through to achieve what she had achieved. I feel like a proud brother when I see her work, the fashion she creates, her achievements, and how she has become one of the biggest names in the fashion industry,” says the actor, promising that he will make up for not being present this time.
