The fascination with the lives of Hindi cinema’s legendary stars shows no signs of slowing down. While Madhubala and Meena Kumari’s biopics are in the making, mid-day has now learnt that late Guru Dutt’s life and legacy will be brought to the screen. Manish Goswami’s production house Siddhant Cinevision has acquired the adaptation rights of ‘Bichde Sabhi Baari Baari’, Dutt’s biography by novelist Bimal Mitra, with plans to develop it as a multi-part series.

Mitra shared a close personal and professional association with Dutt, which began when the latter adapted his acclaimed Bengali novel, ‘Saheb Bibi Golam’. A source shared, “The author spent considerable time with Dutt at his Mumbai home and Lonavala farmhouse, working on scripts and having long conversations with him. Those interactions became the foundation for the memoir. ‘Bichde Sabhi Baari Baari’ also shone a light on Dutt’s troubled marriage to singer Geeta Dutt, his bond with Waheeda Rehman, and the actor-filmmaker’s anxieties and vulnerabilities.”
mid-day contacted Goswami, who said, “It’s premature to discuss the details.”
