Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is currently backing television show Manpasand Ki Shaadi which is a family drama. Amid this, anticipation around his next movie with Ayushmann Khurrana amps up. Ayushmann Khurrana is set to be the new-age ‘Prem’ for Sooraj Barjatya. Sharing an update about the film, Sooraj Barjatya has confirmed that the film will go on floors and the shoot will take place in Mumbai.

Sharing the update about family drama, the director revealed to PTI, “We're shooting the film with them (Ayushmann and Sharvari) in Mumbai, it's a story set in Mumbai. He is a dedicated and fine actor. It's all about getting the right story, and making it look real and making it with the right cast. Besides them, we've more people in the cast, like how we've it in all my films”.
Barjatya said he is a bit nervous as the shooting for the film approaches. “I've this nervousness before the shoot of every film. This has been there even when I made my first film, 'Maine Pyaar Kiya', it's (nervousness) still the same. As a creator, it's not about how much box office (numbers) it will do, it's about whether you're able to connect or not, with that thought or scene."

For those unversed, Salman Khan has essayed the role of Prem in most of Sooraj Barjatya’s films, which have turned out to be blockbusters. The director has often teamed up with superstar in films including his debut, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and ¿Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, among others. As per recent reports, the actor-director duo will reunite after Barjatya lock an age-appropriate script for him.

Talking of Ayushmann, he is presently busy with Thama with Rashmika Mandanna. The film is a part of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, which is gearing up for a Diwali 2025 release. The actor also has an untitled spy comedy with Karan Johar, scheduled for a 2026 opening. Sharvari, on the other hand, has the YRF Spy Universe film, Alpha under her kitty with Alia Bhatt, gearing up to arrive on the Christmas weekend 2025.
