Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi's love angle in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is being loved and appreciated by the audience

Dharmendra plays the role of Ranveer Singh's grandfather in Karan Johar's recently released film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'. Amid losing memory, his character keeps taking the name Jamini, a lady he met just a couple of times during his youth. Jamini is played by Shabana Azmi, who plays Alia Bhatt's grandmother in the film. Alia and Ranveer's characters makes them meet which rekindles their love for each other.
Shabana and Dharmendra also have a scene where they kiss each other on the lips as their family members look in astonishment, even Jaya Bachchan who plays Dharmendra's wife. Needless to say, the scene also left audience surprised as it is not common of senior actors to do intimate scenes including kissing on the lips. Dharmendra has now reacted to the kissing scene. "I am hearing that Shabana and I have surprised the audience with the kissing scene, and at the same time they have even applauded it. I think people weren’t expecting it and it came very suddenly which is why it created an impact. The last time I did a kissing scene was in Life In A Metro with Nafisa Ali and at that time too people had appreciated it," he told News18.

Dharmendra further said that the scene was not forceful and that it was the movie's demand. "When Karan narrated the scene to us, I did not get excited (laughs). We understood it and I realised that it was something that the film required and wasn’t forcefully put in and I said I will do it. Also, I believe there is no age for romance. Age is just a number and two people irrespective of age will show their love for each other by kissing. Shabana and I both did not feel any kind of awkwardness while doing it as it was very aesthetically shot.''
Meanwhile, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' is being loved and appreciated by audience and critics alike. The film which was released in theatres on July 28 opened to Rs 11.10 crore. On Saturday, the film saw a 45 percent jump as it collected over Rs 16 crore.
