Of late there have been reports of Janhvi Kapoor replacing Alia Bhatt in the popular 'Dulhania' franchise by Dharma Productions. It was speculated that due to Alia's busy schedule, Janhvi will be seen romancing Varun Dhawan in 'Dulhania 3'. The first film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' was released in 2014 and earned Varun and Alia the screen couple name of 'Varia' among their fans.
Now, filmmaker Karan Johar has broken his silence on the reports of Janhvi replacing Alia and said that there is no official confirmation. He said that details will be shared when everything is confirmed. "Every morning I wake up to news that is not an official confirmation by Dharma productions… would request members of the media to please not conjecture about the continuance of a franchise or the beginning of one! We will give details when the time and plans are formulated and fructified! We are humbled by the excitement shown to our future films but would love to have accuracy instead of speculation… Respectfully, Karan Johar," he wrote on his Instagram stories on Friday.

In 2014, Shashank Khaitan directed Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the romantic comedy 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. The film was an instant hit and made fans laud and appreciate the chemistry between the two lead actors. The sequel 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' (2017) was also loved by the audience and ever since fans have been awaiting the third installment of the franchise.
Earlier, Peepingmoon.com had reported that Janhvi Kapoor has been roped in for the film in place of Alia Bhatt. Varun and Janhvi have previously worked together in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Bawaal' which was released last year. The report also stated that like the first two parts, Shashank Khaitan will return to direct the third part as well. Like 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania', the third part will also not be connected to its prequel and will have an independent plot. The film is currently under pre-production and will go on floors in a couple of months.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is currently shooting for filmmaker Atlee's next which is the remake of the Tamil film 'Theri'. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. He will start with 'Dulhania 3' post wrapping up Atlee's film. Along with 'Dulhania 3', Varun will also be shooting for his father David Dhawan's next.
Janhvi Kapoor has the big-budget pan-Indian film 'Devara' in the pipeline. The film that will feature her with Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan will be released in April. She also has 'Mr and Mrs Mahi' with Rajkummar Rao in her kitty.
