Sources say Ananya-Pavail to team up for a KJo-backed coming-of-age film that rolls this year

Only weeks after being seen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Faadu (2022), Pavail Gulati is said to have bagged a new project. Word is that the actor will team up with Ananya Panday for a Karan Johar production. The director will be finalised in the coming weeks for the project that is expected to roll later this year. A source reveals, “The film is a coming-of-age story, and demanded a fresh pairing. Since Pavail and Ananya come from different schools of cinema, the makers thought it would be exciting to see them share screen space.”

Panday has been Dharma Productions’ blue-eyed girl since the beginning of her career, having been launched in Student of the Year 2 (2019). She followed it up with Gehraiyaan (2022) and Liger (2022). The upcoming film will mark Gulati’s first collaboration with Johar, save for a cameo in Kalank (2019). “Pavail had a few meetings with the team in December before saying yes to the project. The makers have yet to finalise the date for the official announcement,” adds the source.
