It was recently reported that the team behind the Masti franchise has reunited for the fourth installment of the comedy series and has commenced shooting. The cast and crew are currently in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where they are reportedly filming a large-scale dance number. A leaked visual from the sets has revealed a delightful surprise- Genelia Deshmukh’s return to the franchise.

Masti 4 team shoot song in UK

According to reports, the film’s lead trio- Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani—were shooting a song at Victoria Square in Birmingham, along with hundreds of background dancers. The unit was surrounded by the general public, many of whom recorded the shoot and shared videos on social media.

In some of the viral footage from the sets, Genelia Deshmukh was spotted on location. While her initial presence raised no suspicions—as many assumed she was simply accompanying her husband Riteish for the shoot—fans were quick to notice her rehearsing dance steps in costume and later participating in the shoot, hinting at a possible cameo.

Genelia's cameos with Riteish

Genelia Deshmukh was paired opposite Riteish in the first installment of Masti, which released in 2004. If the speculation is true, this would mark her return to the franchise after two decades. However, this wouldn't be her first cameo in a film starring her husband. She made a special appearance in the song Aala Holicha San in Riteish’s Marathi blockbuster Lai Bhaari (2014), and again in the song Dhuvun Taak in Mauli (2018). The couple also starred together in full-fledged roles in the Marathi drama Ved, which marked Riteish’s directorial debut.

Genelia's work front

On the professional front, Genelia was recently seen in the Bollywood film Sitaare Zameen Par opposite Aamir Khan, which turned out to be a box-office success. She also recently announced her next project, Gunmaster G9, co-starring Emraan Hashmi and Aparshakti Khurana. The film is being directed by Aditya Datt, known for Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005).

The film promises to be a new-age action-romance-drama, a stark contrast to some of the roles Genelia has recently embraced. This exciting turn is proof of her undeniable versatility as an actor. She has consistently challenged herself with unique projects, refusing to be put in a box.  Gunmaster G9 also marks a Himesh Reshammiya Musical that only scales up the project with a whole era to his credit.
