On the occasion of Guru Purnima, Viineet Kumar Siingh recalls his fond memories with Mahesh Manjrekar, Mahesh Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap. He shares how these mentors guided him and were always a call away when he was struggling

On the pious occasion of Guru Purnima, the Jaat actor exclusively shares with us how Mahesh Manjrekar, Mahesh Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap left a profound impact on him in his journey.

Talking about the significance of this day, Siingh shares, “Guru Purnima is a very special day and I personally believe that if you get a good mentor in life, a lot of things in life get aligned for the right. Since I belong from Benaras, I have understood the value of a Guru quite well. Talking about my Guru’s from the industry, I learnt filmmaking from Mahesh Manjrekar, then I met Mahesh Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap.”
Revealing what qualities about them he admires, Viineet answers, “I have noticed some similar traits among Mahesh Manjrekar, Mahesh Bhatt, and Anurag Kashyap. With whatever time I have spent with them, one thing I observed is that they don’t hesitate to take risks. They are very brave when it comes to making decisions and never shy away from experimenting. All three of them are also quite vocal and are able to express themselves. They always have a strong and clear point of view on every subject.”

Heaping praise on Mahesh Bhatt, he remarks, “When I met him, it was a time in my life when I really needed that kind of support. You just feel charged after meeting him. And at that time, it was something I truly needed.”
Viineet on support from mentors
Recalling how these mentors supported him, the actor avers, "These people came into my life when I needed them the most. When I first came to Mumbai, Mahesh Manjrekar met me, and I got a chance to learn a lot from him. Then there was a phase in my life when I was completely clueless about what would happen. At that time, I met Mahesh Bhatt. The film he gave me at that time was a very small role, but it meant a lot to me. And whenever I used to message or do something, I always got a response."
He concludes, "So, those things had a deep impact on me. And again, the major change in my life came when I met Anurag Kashyap in 2009-10, at the time when Gangs of Wasseypur was happening. For me, the most important thing was that whenever I was in a situation where I needed a change in life, I met these people. I can never forget that, and it means a lot to me. I still remember, during a workshop Anurag Kashyap had advised me that no matter what is going on in life, one should never stop working. To date, I keep that thing in mind.”
On the personal front, the actor is on cloud nine as he is all set to embrace parenthood with wife Ruchira Singh.
