Candid confessions
Aamir Khan recently opened up about his son Junaid Khan’s dyslexia at a Sitaare Zameen Par fan meet in Mumbai. He said, “I’ve never spoken about this until today. Junaid is dyslexic. When I first heard the story [of Taare Zameen Par, 2007], it hit me so hard — because I’ve been through it myself.” Aamir shared that he initially didn’t understand Junaid’s struggles with reading and writing, even scolding him for his poor handwriting. However, after discovering his son’s condition, he supported him. The actor added, “I would tell him, ‘Junaid, how can someone write so badly? No one can even read this’. When he used to read, he would say ‘from’ instead of ‘for’. We found out he has dyslexia, and of course, we helped him with that.” Earlier, Junaid had revealed he has dyslexia, which is a learning disorder that affects reading and spelling. The Loveyapa actor said his father, and mother, producer Reena Dutta discovered that he had dyslexia while listening to the script of Taare Zameen Par.
