Aamir Khan was last seen on the big screen in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ in 2018 with Amitabh Bachchan. He’s now gearing up for the official remake of ‘Forrest Gump’ in the form of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, which he announced on his birthday in 2019. Slated to earlier release in December 2020, it was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

It’s now slated to arrive on Christmas this year and the cast and crew were filming in full swing in the luscious landscapes of Ladakh. Khan and Kiran Rao, who’s co-producing the drama, held a press conference. They spoke about their experience of filming at the location and its gorgeousness. Have a look at it right here:

The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. He plays a crucial role in the Indian adaptation of Forrest Gump (1994). The actor’s character is said to be based on Benjamin Buford Blue aka Bubba, who becomes Gump’s best friend when the latter enlists into the US Army. While the two promise to turn business partners, Gump honours his commitment after Bubba is killed in the Vietnam War. Going by the hashtag, his name seems to be Bala in the adaptation.

Earlier this month, Khan and Rao announced their divorce through a joint statement they shared with the press.

“In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now, we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives—no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together,” read the statement, as they continue their family vacation in Ladakh. Aamir, who is scheduled to resume work for Laal Singh Chadha, will then take off to Kargil for the shoot in four days.

The statement further added that the couple has been in talks of separation for a while, but will continue to work together on their passion projects. “We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, the Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about.”
