Sourav Roy, better known as Ray in the industry, saw Ghoom Ghoom as an opportunity to build something of his own in director Gurmmeet Singh’s big-ticket release, Mirzapur: The Movie. Having largely served as a music producer on many Hindi film songs, he stepped up to compose and sing the gritty track with Ankur Tewari as the music supervisor. The result? A song that, he believes, offers a new interpretation of Rajasthani music.
“For Ghoom, I did not have any references in mind. After the tune was liked and approved by the makers, I was building the track and sounds with Ankur Tewari step by step. You will hear some crazy, gritty-sounding original sampled Indian instruments. Maybe you will discover a new sonic world of Rajasthan in the song,” said Ray.
