Earlier this month, mid-day reported that Pavail Gulati had bagged a Karan Johar production opposite Ananya Panday (Fresh jodi alert, Jan 13). It looks like the actor has another new project in his kitty.

Sources tell us that Gulati — who featured in Dobaara, Goodbye, and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s web series Faadu last year — will be seen in a mystery thriller opposite Rakul Preet Singh. “The actors began shooting for the film late last year in Mumbai. The yet-untitled project is being helmed by writer-filmmaker Nikhil Mahajan,” says a source.

Mahajan has predominantly worked in Marathi films, with Pune 52 (2013), Baji (2015), June (2021) and Godavari (2021) to his credit. In 2020, he made his Hindi debut with the Netflix horror series, Betaal.

Though little is known about the upcoming thriller, one hears that it will be shot primarily across Mumbai. Sunir Khetarpal’s production marks the first collaboration of Gulati and Singh, who was recently seen in the social comedy, Chhatriwali.
