Music composer Palaash Muchhal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was called off after her father was hospitalised. Amid this, rumours surfaced claiming the real reason for the postponement was Palaash allegedly cheating on Smriti with Mumbai-based choreographer Mary D’Costa, after their supposed chats went viral. Now, Mary has issued a clarification regarding the conversation.

Mary D’Costa on viral chats with Palaash Muchhal

As per a post shared by paparazzo Viral Bhayani, Mary wrote in a long note, “I am the same person who posted the chats. I never wanted my identity revealed. The chats were from May–July 2025 and lasted only a month. I never met him or got involved with him. I only exposed him because I love cricket, I adore Smriti Mandhana, and I felt people should know.”

She further clarified, “I’m not the choreographer, nor the person he cheated with. I didn’t expect this backlash and had to make my account private. In the chats, it’s clear I wasn’t at fault — I was the one who ghosted him. Please don’t target me; I genuinely can’t handle it. I never wanted any of this.”

She concluded, “I thought people would understand because in the chat you can clearly see that I was not at fault, and I was the one who ghosted him. I would never do anything wrong to any woman, whether she is famous or not. I request everyone not to target me because I genuinely cannot handle it, and I truly did not think I would have to go through this. Thank you.”

About Palaash and Smriti

The couple was set to tie the knot on November 23. Their pre-wedding festivities had already begun and glimpses were going viral. However, the wedding was called off after Smriti’s father was hospitalised. A day later, Palaash was also rushed to hospital. Although the official reason cited was Smriti’s father’s health, screenshots alleging that Palaash cheated on Smriti quickly spread online.

In the chats, Palaash allegedly asked Mary to meet him, and when she questioned him about his relationship with Smriti, he called it “dead most” and said it was a “long-distance” relationship. Even as Mary referenced his commitment to Smriti, he allegedly insisted the relationship was “dead” and continued urging her to meet him.

Amid the controversy, Palaash’s cousin issued a statement urging everyone not to judge him, while his sister, singer Palak Muchhal, requested privacy and reiterated that the wedding was halted due to Smriti’s father’s illness.
